The investor letter identifies that Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC):
- Lacks a public reusable packaging (refillable bottles) goal,
- Lacks commitments to increase the sale of refillable bottles in developing markets,
The letter is calling upon the company to commit to the following:
- Implement or expand refillable bottling systems in markets where availability is currently low or non-existent.
- Set an ambitious target of at least 30% of the volume of beverages sold worldwide in reusable packaging by 2030 and report on annual progress towards this goal.
A commitment to increase refillable bottles would reduce risk and benefit long-term shareholder value.
The statement builds on work of the PRI investor group, VBDO's "Investor Statement On Plastics", and aims to align with the work of the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty.
