Resolved clause
It is proposed that Saputo Inc. offer its shareholders an annual advisory vote on the company’s environmental policies and commitments, which should be presented in a structured ESG report.
Supporting statement
The report should include: • the goals for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, • the commitments to the sustainable use of water, management of agricultural land and waste treatment, • the measures taken to manage physical and regulatory risks related to climate change, • the integration of environmental criteria in strategic decisions and the supply chain. Let us recall that this vote would be non-binding but would constitute a modern governance tool enabling shareholders to provide annual feedback on the company’s environmental performance. As a leader in the dairy agri-food industry, Saputo is exposed to structural environmental risks, such as: • methane emissions from dairy production, • high consumption of water and energy in processing plants, • risks related to the resilience of agricultural supply chains in a changing climate, • increased market pressure for transparent ESG indicators. In this context, regular reports to shareholders are essential to maintain trust. In the past, this proposal has received over 6% of the votes cast.
