Collaboration details

CBIS is leading a new engagement with Nintendo asking the company to better protect children from on-line sexual exploitation.

We are targeting Nintendo due to:

  1. The company’s size – it is one of the “Big 3” gaming companies along with Microsoft and Sony.  As of April 2024, Nintendo had the highest market cap among the largest gaming companies worldwide. Nintendo reports having over 102 million playing users.
  2. The company’s target market covers a broad age group, from kids to older adults.
  3. Many of Nintendo’s games allow for in game communication with others unless a parent disables that function; and
  4. in 2020 the company came under fire for one of its games being a hotbed for sexual misconduct and predatory behavior. We believe these factors present a significant risk of Nintendo's products being used by predators to groom children and exchange CSAM.
