Contribute to the UK Green Taxonomy consultation

4 members

The UK government has launched a consultation on the value and use case of a UK Green Taxonomy. Please join this collaboration to contribute to PRI's response and be notified for engagement opportunities with HM Treasury.

Collaboration details

The primary purpose of this consultation is to establish whether a UK Taxonomy would be additional and complementary to existing policies in meeting the objectives of mitigating greenwashing and channelling capital in support of the government’s sustainability objectives. To inform this, the consultation seeks to gather views on any market and regulatory use cases for a UK Taxonomy which would contribute to these objectives.

We invite all signatories interested, to provide feedback to Louisa Guy (louisa.guy@unpri.org) or via this collaboration by Friday 6 February 2025 COB.

Sustainable finance taxonomies provide a common language for investors, issuers, project promoters and policy makers. They help investors assess whether investments meet robust sustainability standards and align with policy commitments such as the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national sustainability and climate change goals.

Building on our involvement with the Green Technical Advisory Group and our responses to public consultations, the PRI will prioritise promoting the integrity and efficacy of the taxonomy in the upcoming consultation. We will also encourage policymakers to ensure that its implementation positively influences the timely delivery of the net-zero agenda and coherence with other regimes, including the EU taxonomy, to avoid creating new regulatory burdens for financial actors.
