Join signatories calling for climate resilience votes at FTSE 100 AGMs

2 members

Asset managers, investors and investor representatives are inviting signatories to join correspondence to FTSE 100 companies (excluding investment trusts), calling on them to give shareholders a vote on their climate risk and resilience strategies at the 2026 AGM or a future meeting.

Collaboration details

We are inviting investors to sign a letter to all FTSE 100 companies (excluding investment trusts) calling for climate risk and resilience strategies to be disclosed and put to a shareholder vote at their 2026 AGM or a future meeting.

This is the fifth year that investors have written to UK-listed companies on this issue. Last year, investors with £1.6 trillion in assets under management supported the call. So far, around one fifth of the FTSE 100 have provided shareholders with such a vote, this initiative aims to build on that momentum and encourage many more to follow.

A dedicated vote not only builds trust and accountability but also ensures that the entire share register, including minority shareholders, has a say on companies’ climate resilience.

Recent guidance from the Transition Plan Taskforce, now under the ISSB, recommends that companies update and disclose their transition strategies on a three-year cycle. A shareholder vote provides a credible and effective way to demonstrate board commitment and support the delivery of these plans.

Copies of the letter and a detailed rationale can be found in the ‘files’ section of theis posting.
